题目：Intrahousehold Resource Allocation, Son Preference, and Fertility Restrictions: A Tale of Birth Order

摘要：Intrahousehold inequality in human capital is a significant issue that impedes efforts to reduce poverty. This study focuses on within-family birth order differences, exploring the sources of birth order effects and how these effects interact with socioeconomic factors. We develop a stylized theoretical framework to explain birth order effects, incorporating fertility decisions and multi-stage skill formation. Using data from the China Family Panel Studies, we find significant negative birth order effects on child nutrition status. Our results align with model predictions, demonstrating that higher family income, stronger son preference, and more relaxed fertility policies can mitigate birth order effects.
